Hepburn, Rogers and Wright

I feel nostalgic.

Ever since this economy went sour and life has gotten less than sugary sweet... I suddenly feel like drawing every ounce of strength I can from my heroines from the past.

Ginger Rogers, Katherine Hepburn, and Theresa Wright are just a few of my absolute favorite woman of the past who were strong, feminine, brave, genuine and just downright fascinating. Not to mention, they were all AMAZING actors! Good golly. Theresa Wright in The Best Years of Our Life is startlingly authentic and yet still entertaining... Her performance in Mrs. Miniver was also breathtaking and of course, memorable.

I find myself longing to be like them... Facing the world in front of me with courage and a chic, smart sense of good taste. They were all very different woman, but I think they were all unflinchingly graceful in response to whatever life dished out to them... sexism, death, and of course, dancing with Fred Astair.

Anyhow... Is it just me or does it feel like the world is slipping back in time? Like... since this election, and the economic downfall I feel like we are all turning to... the old... the "tried and true"... A simpler time? I don't mind that part... I guess. It's nice to see people trying to value what they have and save more money. That sense of value has been missing for a long time I think... But... of course... the looming sense of chaos and lurching unrest is... sad.

Thank goodness we have Obama right now... Seriously. If we all felt like it was just going to be more of the same.. I don't know if a lot of people could make it... could push themselves forward. Sometimes it takes something fresh... something new... to provide a sense that life isn't over yet...

And the past... gives strength for the future...
