Rainy Day Antiquing

I went antiquing today with two friends of mine. I couldn't believe how much I found.

When I was little I used to go to antique stores and look for tea cups. Today brought back good memories. I got a bit nostalgic for my childhood, which is something I rarely feel. Some of my best memories are of running from shop to shop with my parents in Duluth, Minnesota. Canal Street next to Lake Superior was best. At the end of the day we rested at a Vietnamese Restaurant and I ordered iced Jasmine tea.

Today, however, was the day for sheaths and hats, such as the one pictured above and to the right. In keeping with my nostalgic mood it rained. It always rained when we went antiquing in Duluth. The contrast between chilly Lake Superior and a warm summer day would invariably build storms with dramatic rain, wind and lightning.

At the second store I bought two shirt-waist dresses and the plaid dress above. I plan to wear the plaid dress with a belt... or maybe not... it almost doesn't need one.

I don't know what got into me, but by the time we reached the last store I suddenly decided fate was calling me to try on as many hats as I could find... so I listened and below is what resulted... No, I did not buy the one with the flowers. Although, I did buy the red one. :)
